Christmas Fun

Posted by Dawn at Saturday, December 04, 2010
Christmas season is a great time to be with the kids, doing art and craft as well as going to Orchard Road to see the Christmas decorations.

Here were some easy things that I did with them.

First, the reindeer puppet with recycled paper bag from body shop.

Simple trace two hands of your kids, cut it up and get them to colour it. And you just add in the face of the reindeer and stick the "antlers" (hands) for them or if they are old enough, they can do all that by themselves.

Next up, is a simple Christmas card. Gave them black and green paper. Cut it up and got them to paste by themselves and just decorate it with whatever you have. I have lots of stickers, so I just got them sticking it all by themselves.

And lastly, did with them a Christmas wreath which simply consist of many hands of your kid. I just folded the paper into many folds and when you place the hand over the paper to cut them, you can get multiple copies.

Then you just stick them in a circle, touch up with a ribbon and decorate it in any way you like.

Went to Orchard at the beginning of December as I felt it would definitely be less 'crowded' as compared to visiting Orchard nearer to Christmas (But CT insisted that Orchard is always crowded no matter what)

Anyway, here we are..went Tangs to shop for Christmas presents. Then, walked all the way down towards Plaza Singapura.

Then we went in search for dinner which I told CT to bring us to a place where it is conducive for eating and not crowded. Tough for a place like Orchard since everywhere seems crowded with people. But CT,being an Orchard kid now (since his office is at Somerset), knew exactly where to bring us where there werent many people. It was awesome as there was this place beside Orchard Cineleisure which was called *scape. It was a very ULU (deserted) small shopping area.

There's a fairly big taiwanese restaurant there which serve decent food at reasonable prices (probably pay about $10 per pax). Cheap, decent food with not many people in a place like Orchard. How cool is that?

After dinner, we walked back to Tangs as we parked our car at Shaw Centre which is about $3.50 -$4 per entry for the whole day!

Orchard Road was basically split into 3 sections where there were pink, blue and purple decorations

Though many commented that this years' Christmas lights is not as nice as previous years, I still enjoyed myself and I am sure the kids too. Check it out!

And of course, the famous 3-4 stories tall Takashimaya tree which I am glad they recycle every year.

My favourite Christmas decoration was Tangs! It was very colourful and the bible verse chosen was meaningful.

There were also street performance which was nice to elevate the whole Christmas atmosphere.

Had an amazing time! Hope my kids do not get the wrong idea of Christmas that its all about presents, lights and Christmas trees...
