Almost each time I go to NZ, I would usually visit Rotorua. It has probably been at least 3 times visiting this wonderful unique place.
Rotorua is just so different from the rest of NZ because of its rich maori culture and its natural fart scent you can detect when you are in the area. I say scent because I love the smell! Haha..
Its actually sulphur smell..
So this morning, we made a day trip down to Rotorua which is only about 1.5 hours drive from Cambridge.
Our first stop was to Agrodome. Just 4 years back, I visited here. So, the surroundings were all so familiar. Nothing much has changed.
Here's Janine first time being so close to the different kinds of sheeps.
Then Janine spotted a helicopter and shouted excitedly, "Herky Herky". Its all because of the cartoon show she watches that talks about Herky the helicopter and Jay Jay the jet plane.
Here's Janine smiling for the camera..FINALLY!
And here are other pics of Janine on a kiwi and a sheepdog. Yep, since I am not travelling with Caleb, most of my pictures are now on my niece. Haha
After that, we went to the park in the town area of Rotorua. So, here's the hot steam coming of the holes in the ground. All natural.
During certain moments, you will get a whiff of nice smelling sulfur! hehe..Everyone hated the smell but I kept breathing it in as if addicted to it.
After that, we dropped by at a Japanese cum Korean Restaurant to take away some food and went to the lakeside for lunch.
Here's our sumptuous lunch- korean beef and pork bento sets, salmon sushi, tuna sushi etc.
The scenery was great!
This lake was the same lake I did my fishing here 4 years ago. We caught about 4 rainbow trout fish and cooked it.
After a while, it started to drizzle. So, my brother had to move to the back of the car and ate his lunch there. We suddenly realised how great this car was since the boot area was quite deep in. So we could all sit in it under the 'shelter'. Cant wait for my new car to come as it would be about the same type of car.
The weather was rather chilly when it started raining, including the strong wind. So because of that, I suddenly suggested going for a dip in the mineral heated pools. Initially, we planned for 4WD ride on rough terrians or luge/gondola rides. Somthing thrilling. But too bad, the weather wasnt corporating.
So, off we went to the Polynesian Spa.
The water was about 37 - 40 degrees. I love soaking myself in hot water. Very soothing..
Here's Janine who also got into the pool!
We had a great time in the pools as Janine kept going up and down the slide.
We also had our share of fun having mini competitions against each other in the pool.
After a long session in the pool - about 2 plus hours, we had a quick shower and then ordered a nice ice cream! So cheap. Only $2.50 for a single scoop. Moreover, the person gave us like 2-3 scoops for the price of a single scoop. Janine had strawberry flavour while I had choc mint. We also had a glass of hot chocolate.
After all that, we made our way back. On the way back, we stopped by one small town to take pictures as this small little town has interesting statues or building..
What an interesting day at Rotorua. Reached back the barn at about 5 plus in the evening. Had salad and steak for our dinner. We also caught a thriller show on TV called "Wolf Creek". So scary...but fun as we all watched it together. Verdict: my brother and I cannot watch horrow shows for nuts. We were both covering our faces with the pillows. Ha.
