Caleb's birthday celebration

Posted by Dawn at Tuesday, July 17, 2012 0 comments
Its my first time going to Caleb's school to celebrate his birthday as I thought having his friends to celebrate with him is good enough and my presence won't probably make a difference.
However, I was pleasantly surprise how happy he was and proud to see me. It was also a good time for me to get to know his friends- the company he spends time with every weekday. Funny thing was that his group of female classmates came to me and told me how talkative and naughty Caleb is in class. Haha..I find it rather amusing than angry.
There's Caleb serving his classmates the cake.
And here's the birthday boy!
Happy 5th Birthday Caleb! Big boy already. May God's wisdom and love be upon you!

STAR Concert

Posted by Dawn at Sunday, July 15, 2012 0 comments
CT bought the STAR tickets which include a concert at Gardens by the Bay, a ride on the flyer as well as a trip to Universal Studios.
Our first stop was to Gardens by the Bay. Because of the tickets, we had a 20% discount to the conservatories-Flower Dome and Cloud Forest. So, we went for it and had a great time. I did wish we had more time to spend in it as there were just so much to see and to just relax in the place as it was very cooling. But we were rushing as we needed to catch the concert in the evening. There were all kind of plants which I have never seen before. Its really cool.
If you love plants and flowers, you will definitely love this place and could probably spend the whole day there.
You wont believe there could be so many species of plants, flowers, cactus in this world and all in one place. In the Cloud Forest, there is a huge waterfall
and like a treetop walkway which was very pleasant to walk as its air-conditioned and the landscaping is very nice.
The STAR concert was at the meadow area in the Gardens. We grabbed some chips and indian food for our picnic cum concert.
The concert was interesting as it has been a while since I went for such concerts with pop bands. I felt young again at certain parts of the concert when I enjoyed the songs..but I also felt old at the same time as I didnt understand why the crowd would go crazy over the K-Pop groups. Oh well.. Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable evening spent with CT as we spent the night admiring the lights from the supertrees!

Public Service Swimming Meet 2012

Posted by Dawn at Saturday, July 07, 2012 0 comments
Every year, I would make sure I take part in this swimming competition so as to get freebies and as well a good reason to keep fit. Here's this year's goodies!
Every year, I would take part in the maximum number of events which is 5 events. This year, I took part in 400m free, 50m free,50m back, and 2 relays. I was surprised that I actually got a gold for my 50m free (improving my last year's time) and getting a 3rd position for 50m back as the competition gets tougher each year especially with more foreign talent and more publicity for this meet.
My family came later to support me as this meet started at 8am to about 3pm. The children managed to have fun in the pool.
My ex-student, Lycia came to support me. Was touched!
I enjoyed myself as Christmas came early for me and with the good company of family and friends, what more can I ask for?

Buffet Town

Posted by Dawn at Sunday, July 01, 2012 0 comments

It was Youth day Holiday the next day and so we brought the family out for buffet dinner at Buffet Town International, at Raffles City Shopping Basement 1. You have to book this place probably a week in advance but we just walked in after waiting in the long queue for it.

What's good about this buffet is that the kids (below 6)eat for free! It's about $40 per person after the tax. So $80 for a family of 4 is quite worth it considering the HUGE spread of food they have!!! Whatever food you can think of, they have it!

They have food ranging from tempura, lots of different kinds of sashimi, oysters, mussels, cold crabs, prawns etc..

to Chicken Rice, prawn mee, roast beef, pizza,
BBQ food, chilli crab, pancakes, all sorts of drinks including homemade soya bean etc etc.

What caught my attention was the kids area in the restaurant. Great idea especially since CT and I could eat in peace after the children have finished their food. We didnt need to entertain them.

The children def had fun eating and playing

All of us were so stuffed after the dinner. Every time after a buffet, CT and I would always comment that it would be our last time eating buffet..it seems every buffet is always our last.
