Last night, I was thinking of the souvenirs and the clothes I still have back home. And also my guitar. Just as I was worried, I did my quiet time and read my daily bread-this small book that gives you bible reading day by day. So yesterday's reading was on the book of Matthew 6:25-34. Here goes..
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you wil wear. Is not life more important that food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to this life?
And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ' What shall we eat?' or ' What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things wil be given to you as well. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. "
Then in the daily bread, not only are there daily readings to do, they will have a short write up in relation to the passage. So, after reading the bible, I read the daily bread book and it says<" Do you worry about money? We are to be careful with money, but Jesus taught that we are not to be full of care about it. If you have put your faith in the Lord, you don't have to worry about life's neccessities. God Himself has assumed responsibility for your food and clothing-and all your needs."
When I was reading, at once, a sudden peace engulfed me and I just knew God was assuring me. If not, why so timely? Just as I was thinking about my clothes and my possessions back home, getting worried that it will be destroyed. Here, the daily bread reading was on this so appropriate passage. I shared it with CT and also told him not to worry as it is only earthly possessions and money.
