Touched down!

Posted by Dawn at Saturday, March 08, 2008
Each time whenever the plane touch down, reaching the destination, I will always get really excited and relived that the plane flight is finally over.

So after the long 10 over hours flight, we finally touched down at Auckland International Airport. We first went to the car rental company to collect the 2 spacewagons we ordered.

The weather was like aircon temperature, but very sunny! So, I was glad I didnt bring much winter clothes. I love the blue sky and white clouds as we drove to our motel.

Janine was fast asleep.

Our third hiccup for this trip was the checking in to our motel. We ordered 3 rooms, but we forgot to tell them that we needed at least one room on the ground level. So, they gave us all upstairs which was impossible for my dad to go up.

While discussing with the owners, I was starving. So, I walked next door to our motel-Knights Inn Motel along Greenlane Road to get lunch for everyone. Bought fried noodles from a Chinese place.

Anyway, CT and I, as well as my brother's family checked in to our room first by dropping down our luggage and changing.

After our lunch together eating in the car as we shared 5 packets of noodles- mixed combination noodles, char siew noodles as well as black bean beef noodles, we went to visit my grandaunt, Marcelle.

She stays in a retirement village along Ranfurly Ave at Epsom. Here's the area at her place.

There's Pamela (my sis-in-law) with her daughter, Janine

As usual, the flowers in NZ are always so beautiful...

And here's Auntie Marcelle greeting us at the door. Our usual greeting with her- kisses on both sides of the cheeks.

Janine enjoyed patting "Bambi" outside the neighbour's house.

And this is the row of apartment units outside..

Janine was so active- running everywhere. She also ran upstairs which is Auntie Marcelle's study area... We were all so worried for her safety.

After spending some time chatting in the apartment, my dad and brother stayed back to bathe my dad, while the rest of us went grocery shopping. I loved it! I was all excited..But look who's more excited than me!

My mum bought this huge cabbage which costs only about $2! It probably weighed about 3 kg or more!

At the supermarket, I was so envious that Singapore do not have such fresh produce- veggies and fruits! I loved the various choices of products they have..Sigh. If ever I do migrate, the main reason would probably be the supermarkets! haha..

After supermarketing, we went back to our motel to put down our stuff and to get our swiming gear. CT didnt want to swim, so I brought mine along as I really wanted to make use of this holiday to exercise since I hardly do that in Singapore.

Janine was all ready...

Here's the view from Auntie Marcelle's apartment in the balcony

We then made our way to the pool in the apartment compound. I was afraid that the water would be very cold as it was already evening time, close to 7pm. So, it was rather chilly. Thank God, it was a retirement village, so it is a heated pool! Yay!

However, Pamela forgot to bring her full set of costume! So, it was only me and Janine. But Janine chickened out as she wanted her mum to swim.

In the end, my brother joined me in his boxers.

My mum and Auntie Marcelle went to the nearby Chinese Restaurant to take away some dishes and so, we had dinner at her place.

We had salt-baked chicken, fried string beans, as well as fried rice. All very delicious!

After dinner, we chatted for a while before heading back to our motel nearby- about 5-7 mins from her place.
