1st time making pizza

Posted by Dawn at Saturday, March 01, 2008
Today, I suddenly had the urge to make pizza. I guess my urge came about because I wanted to get rid of some food I have in my fridge, in particular, the white cheddar block of cheese.

So anyway, I decided to make pizza and by the way, it was my first time making. Absolutely no experience in making one...the only experience I have with pizzas comes from EATING them!

So, here goes nothing...

I took out bread flour which I bought 2 weeks back (as I already had in mind to make pizza) and started adding water, yeast, olive oil, sugar and salt. Mix and knead it. Then, I roll it out with not a rolling pin as I do not have one (since I am not much of a baking person), so I took out the closest thing to a rolling pin- the stone pounder!

Here was the outcome of it after rolling it out.

Then I baked it a while in the oven to make the crust harder and crispier before adding the tomato base and ingredients.

I added mushrooms and ham.

Then after grilling for a while,I grated the cheese on top of it. So here's the outcome of my first homemade pizza!

I still had dough for a second one. So I was thinking what other flavours I should make and what do I feel like eating...

Anyway, as usual, I placed the rolled out dough in the oven first to grill. But sigh,I grilled too long and forgot to put holes in it. So, it became like that. Haha..I was laughing my head off when I saw this as it looks so funny- like a pillow or some roti prata!

Anyway, I quickly took it out and put holes in it to flatten it back down. Then I flip over and started putting in the ingredients. Here's what I did...I split the pizza in two halves. One half, I made butter herb mushroom pizza with cheese while the other half..I did something really special. Will let you know in a while..keep you in suspense..

As you can see the other half just looks like ham on top of a tomato base.Nothing special right?

Well, here's what I did. After grilling and cooking it for a while, I took it out and cracked an egg as well as grated cheese all over the pizza. It was practically snowing down cheese..

Here's the final outcome.

Verdict: I love the butter herb, garlic mushroom with cheese pizza best! Its so garlic-ky and I simply love mushrooms. So, it was a nice combination.

As for the ham, cheese and egg pizza, CT loves that best as it is very tasty.

All in all, I was quite satisfied with the outcome of the pizzas, considering it was my first attempt making them. The toppings were nice and tasty. The only bad point about the pizza was that the crust was not that crispy. I will def improve the next time round. I already have in mind what flavour pizza to do next! hehe...
