Enjoyable visit to Marina Barrage

Posted by Dawn at Saturday, February 07, 2009
Today, we decided to go to the fairly, newly opened Marina Barrage. We have always wanted to go there as recommended by my friends. We went there in the evening for hope of having dinner there or nearby. (By the way, dont think of having dinner at the place as there is hardly any food except for the "7th storey Steamboat restaurant" which is highly priced and a cafe that sells local food at ridiculous prices as well. So what most people do is to have picnics there instead.)

What caught my eye when we first arrived was the number of photographers who were carrying their bazooka cameras snapping away random shots all around.

Every instance seemed to be a Kodak moment as the place was wonderfully designed and the scenery was spectacular.

And of course, Caleb was having lots of fun! (even though his teeth was chattering and he was shivering as the water was icy cold)

When we were there, the weather looked threatening but thank God, it was cloudy but it didnt rain. The weather was nice and cooling. After playing in the water, we brought Caleb out as he was freezing. But as expected, he was crying when we took him out as he didnt want to leave.

We took a walk up the ramp to the rooftop.

Here's me and Danielle. Glad she was awake..

The rooftop was nice as people were flying their kites.

Check out the nice surroundings and scenery.

The Marina Barrage is a dam built across the 350-meter wide Marina Channel to keep out seawater, forming Singapore’s first reservoir in the city and 15th reservoir.

After that, we went into the gallery to learn more about the place. Caleb had lots of fun there too as there were colourful lights and interesting things to explore.

At this station, he had problems walking on the clear plastic flooring. He did walk a little and then sat down and crawled instead. He was slightly fearful..Maybe for fear of breaking through the plastic. Guess he just didnt understand how the TV and the other stuff could be in the floor.

We really had a wonderful time there. Cant wait to go back there again.

After that, we drove to Maxwell Food Centre for dinner. Surprisingly, there were not as many people as we expected. Could def find places to seat, but parking was hard to get though.
