Disney-MGM Studios

Posted by Dawn at Monday, September 05, 2005

This morning, we drove to Disney World as we would be hopping from one park to another. So, it is better to drive. To have the park hopper option, we have to pay US$35 more. So each ticket costs about US$90. We do not have enough days to spend in Disney World. So, within a day, we hop from one park to another to cover as much as we can.

The first park we went is Disney-MGM studios. It is similar to Universal Studios where you learn about tricks of movie making, stunt shows , rides etc.

Our first stop was "The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror". I chose that as my first stop as I knew this stop is very popular cos of its thrill. This is the most thrilling ride as few months ago, one girl actually died from it. Her heart actually stopped.

The picture on the right is the ride. You actually enter this old haunted hotel which would bring you to twilight zone..meaning that you enter this lift and suddenly the lift would bring you to another dimension. Initially, the lift would take you up and stop and some levels to show you some effects. There were a ghost family in one level and in another level, the lift actually moved out of the level into this dark room..and all of a sudden, the lift will drop very fast..then it will open up to show you how high you are in relation to the ground, then it will drop further again..then it will rise, then drop again..the speed of drop is incredibly thrilling. CT kept talking to me during the drop and told me that he liked it..in the midst of the drop!

After the ride, one boy in front of us vomited. What a sight. Poor boy. The next ride we took was another thrilling ride. It was a roller coaster, called "Rock n Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith". The plot of this ride is about Aerosmith, the rock group giving us back stage passes to his concert...but to reach his concert in time, he hired a big and fast limousine for all of us to catch his conert..so, the limousine is actually a roller coaster.

I enjoyed this ride as we get to see effects as we ride indoor. It was very dark with the props glowing in the dark. As the roller coaster moved and turned, there was Aerosmith's background music.

The other rides not so fun already...like Star Tours- a simulator from movie Star Wars. We also went to a tour where they show us demo of special effects and a props warehouse where the keep all the movie props. We get to ride the tram as we view some effects, props like aeroplane from "Pearl Harbor" or a warehouse where costumes are made..

We enjoyed the Indiana Jones Stunt show live where stunt men acts in front of the audience to perform Indiana Jones.
They also got volunteers to act as extras on the set.

Very exciting as there were fighting, stunts and fire.

After that, we went to the Muppet Vision 3-D where the muppets perform on stage and on screen in 3D. Then, we walked around and took pictures. We did not have enough time so could not cover a lot. Initially, we wanted to see another stunt show which starts only at 1pm. But we arranged with Kok Fong and wife to meet outside the entrance at 1pm to move on to another park. So, we sms them and told them that we like to catch the stunt show at 1pm. But they did not reply. So, we met them at 1pm outside and told them that we like to watch..They said they would go to the next park themselves..so me and CT ran and ran to catch the stunt show as it was quite far away..However, when we went there, they did not allow people in already. I was so disappointed as if not because we had to run to meet Kok Fong and wife to tell them, we would have made it. Kok Fong did not switch on his hp..so we could not catch it..sigh..

So, we walked to our car and drove to the next park, which was Epcot.
