Stayed indoors today

Posted by Dawn at Friday, September 02, 2005
Today, felt a little under the weather..So, after CT left, I went back to sleep till 11am plus. Woke up by a call from Gek Teng telling me that the cable is back on, which means I can finally use the internet and watch TV finally!

I woke up after that call as I was excited to finally use my computer to check emails and get back my communication with the outside world. Hehe..

The TV channels showed a lot of the hurricane aftermath and seeing the impact visually really breaks my heart-- to see ten thousands homeless, starving and without proper sanitary facilities. Many with young kids. There is looting going on in New Orleans, gun shooting and all...because people are desperate to get food for families. Sigh..

Nearby states have opened up housing for them to stay..so they have been evacuated to Texas and Alabama. I cannot imagine if I were in their state. Some were thankful that they were alive. I am sure some will feel it is the end of the world. It is really how you see it. I feel sad because most houses are built up from their very own hands and to see your effort being destroyed..I am sure it is painful.

One channel which I saw..the newscaster actually flared up and was angry for the speed of rescue coming in. She was angry that it has been days since the people in New Orleans had food.

The channels have been showing the state in New Orleans and Biloxi, Mississippi now. It is a wreck. They showed Hard Rock Casino in Biloxi and the bad state as the Casino was supposed to be open on 8 Sept. News have also said that they will rebuild casinos in Biloxi but further away from the gulf.

Oh well..I was never in favor of casinos. In life, "we must learn to be contented in what we have" (My parents always teach me). The boom of Casinos only goes to show that people are not contented and want more money. But in reality, I think they lose more than they win. So, what's the point? hmm..

Cooked spaghetti tonight with alfredo sauce, portabello mushrooms. Had vegetable, alphabet soup as well. Had been eating too much rice that's why.

After dinner and washing up, we watched finish the last 2 discs of the HK serial VCDs. The ending was too good to be true. A lawyer who shot this guy from the back actually did not get sentenced to prison...he was released right after the court case. The lawyer is a good guy but he had not intention to shoot and kill..But still, I cannot believe he was not jailed. That is why the ending too nice.

Slept early tonight at 9pm plus as CT had blocked nose and was not feeling too good. So, gave him some cold medicine before he slept. Hope he will feel better tomorrow.
