Night out in Orchard

Posted by Dawn at Saturday, December 15, 2007
This whole week, CT has been having training at "Royal Plaza on Scotts" Hotel. So, he has been eating buffet at "The Carousel" for 5 days consecutively till he comes home eating so little for dinner and telling me how sick he is of the buffet food.

But anyway, last night we met him at the hotel after his training and started doing my Christmas Shopping at Orchard and to see the lights and decoration.

I really enjoyed clicking away on my camera at the different shopping centres.

As usual, Takashimaya had a huge Christmas tree.

Caleb was of course captivated by the lights! We simply cant get him to look at the camera which was definitely less attractive as compared to the Christmas tree lights.

There wasnt much decorations in Paragon but we went there anyhow to look at the shops and toys at Toys R Us.

We had dinner at a HK restaurant in Takashimaya and while looking around there, I met my ex-student. I used to teach her when she was in Sec 1 and she is now studying in Temasek Polytechnic. The strange and spooky thing is that I always seem to bump into her at places I would never expect. The last time I met her was at Expo and another time was at NTUC Supermarket at Bedok and now, in Orchard! Goodness, what is happening? Is it a sign or what? I kept telling CT how spooky that is. The funny thing is that when I contacted her a day after, she also had the same sentiments.

Anyway, after dinner, we walked and walked along Orchard Road.

Then we came to Lucky Plaza- the Phillipine shopping centre which we call it because the filipinos hang out here. So, I told Vicky to bring me around in the plaza and introduce me some Phillipine dessert. So we stopped at Lucky plaza for some Philippine Dessert. It was a nice cultural exchange I had..learning the names of different food and even buying bagoong, which is fermented shrimp or krill, at the mini mart there.

Here is the array of desserts there..

We had 2 types of it- the glutinous rice cake which tastes just like muah chee but its with coconut shavings and sugar. Very nice. They usually add a lot of coconut in their dishes.

After a great and interesting trip there, we took a nice stroll back to our car at the hotel and enjoying the deco and lights on the way.

As usual, Tangs shopping centre has great decorations and meaningful ones as well to remind us of the true meaning of Christmas!

I had an enjoyable time indeed..except for probably the crowd at shopping centres.

Reached home and got Caleb ready for his sleep with us..

Think he would definitely enjoy the lights more when he is slightly older. But I am glad I brought him there because when he gets older, he might be running around in Orchard Road considering how active he is now. That will be another concern of mine. We shall see...
