Today, felt like cooking macaroni and cheese. I remembered when I was young when my mum used to cook for me. So this time round, I decided to try it myself for the first time and to my amazement, it was a success and turned out exactly how I wanted it- crispy on top and moist inside.
Here's what I did:
I first cooked the macaroni as how you could cook spaghetti by adding salt to boiling water and throwing in the macaroni. Then after cooking it, I laid it out on a baking dish.
Next, I cooked cheese sauce in a sauce pan. I first add butter(about 30 to 40g, then 1 tbsp of plain flour to stir it in. Then I add milk gradually until sauce smooths up and thicken. The milk must be in room temp or warm. And finally, I add grated cheddar cheese.
After cooking the cheese sauce, I poured it with my macaroni.
And lastly, I topped it with left overs grated cheddar cheese and mozerella cheese. And not forgetting the important ingredient to make it crispy on top- that is the breadcrumbs! I used the japanese tempura ones as I still had left overs from my cooking.
I also prepared a side dish as it may be too boring to just eat mac and cheese. So I prepared mixed veggies with onions and sliced sausages. Just something which I thought of offhand since I had all those ingredients already in my fridge.
Here's the mac and cheese closed up. Moist below and crispy on top.
After lunch, we only rested for a while before we went to check out Hort Park.
We went there at 3 pm. Its probably where the sun is so strong! The reason why we chose that time is because after that, its on the way to church. So, thats why.
Caleb just woke up. So he looks really blur initially. This pond has lots of fishes. And when Caleb placed his feet near the water, most of the fishes congregated near him. So interesting.
It is a nice big garden but the only thing I didnt like was the scorching heat. I was melting...and of course, it didnt help being pregnant.
Caleb of course woke up completely from his sleep when he saw the leaves and flowers. So he had his share of fun!
Here are some of the flowers at HortPark which I liked..
And finally, our last stop was the bridge the links Hort Park to the other parks as you walk towards Harbourfront.
What a tiring day..
