3 months Vaccination

Posted by Dawn at Friday, October 19, 2007
Today, I brought Caleb to the clinic for his 5 in 1 vaccination (DTPa + IPV + HiB). He has to be 3 months before he can take this jab.

Our appointment was at 8am. Went there early and waited. While waiting, there was a baby boy who was the same age as Caleb and borned on the same day too! He was crying a lot in the clinic while Caleb was just looking around quietly.

There was a corner for kids where there were posters. So Vicky took Caleb there to let him see the posters. Shortly later, a girl who is 1 year old plus went forward to join Vicky and Caleb. Then Vicky also read the ABC poster to the girl as well. Her parents smiled as Vicky taught the little girl.

Here is Caleb while waiting for the nurse.

When it was our turn, they took Caleb's weight and height. He is 5.4 kg now and 60cm.
Then, we took off his shorts to get ready for his jab. Here is Caleb still unaware of what is going to happen to him...as he kept yawning.

I was very surprised that Caleb didnt cry much during the jab. He was actually very good! He just let out a cry for about 2 mins. He was silent after that. Here is Caleb after his jab.

Shortly later, he zzzz...as we were waiting for the doctor to follow up on him.

After the whole process of taking the jab, seeing the doctor, collecting prescription for Caleb as well as settling the payment, it tooked altogether only an hour.

Then, drove to the petrol station at Punggol to pump petrol. Bought this huge fishballs from Old Chang Kee in the petrol kiosk. Its the size of my index finger.

For the rest of the day, Caleb was cranky as expected. He was crying because probably the after effects of the jab. He couldnt 'stand' properly. His right leg (where his jab was) was actually shaking when we place his legs on the bed as he used to enjoy 'standing' up. But today, he was practically crying.

Have to take lots of pacifying before he calmed down.

Here is a closeup of Caleb after his big crying session..

Though he really gave us a headache from his crying..with this kind of look, all efforts from pacifying him was all worth it.
